In the second half of my story my main character finds herself on a parallel world. A world very different from earth, inhabited by vampires, werewolves, witches and humans.
As I wrote the story the world called Htrae began to evolve in my mind. I decided it was ten times the size of Earth and it’s rotation was slower which meant the days and nights were longer. It is farther away from their sun, one day is forty-two hours and one year is thirty earth years. So one month on Htrae would mean Laurel has been gone from earth for almost two months.
It was important to me to create a creditable world based on the current research and theories of today’s astrophysicists. So I started watching and recording television shows on the various channels such as the History, Science, National Geographic and Green channels. I used the Internet in my search for information which led me to several books and I went to a local used bookstore and found many books that would help me in my research.
The first book I read was by a Pulitzer Prize winner Brian Green, called “The Hidden Reality” Parallel Universes and the Deep Laws of the Cosmos. He talks about nine variations on the multi verse theme. He states that “each envisions our universe as part of an unexpectedly larger whole, but the complexion of that whole and the nature of the member universes differ sharply among them.” In other words even though some worlds are the same they are also different, in that our counterpart on another world may be living a completely different life or may not exist at all. By the same token there could be worlds that are completely different to the extreme.
After reading this I felt better about the world I had created but there were still elements that needed clarification. I went back to the Internet and looked up each of the planets in our solar system and began to compare the sizes, the times it took each planet to make one complete rotation and the amount of time it took to revolve around the sun. After several hours of making myself crazy, I finally figured it out.
So, the world I had created was a possibility. I decided it was lush and green, the atmosphere was thicker, it rained most of the time; except for a few isolated areas where there was virtually no rain or plant life and where monster sand creatures existed; and the rest of the world was inhabited by vampires, werewolves, witches and humans who were sentient beings, including the vampires.
Beings from Htrae have been visiting earth for a very long time and Htrae’s technology is from earth’s ancient civilizations who were more advanced than we are today. Many of our scientist’s believe this to be a fact. This will be the subject of my next blog, so be sure to come back and learn more about Htrae and Earth’s ancient civilizations according to Dee.
